Ginger Tea

The Masala Edit

Ingredients

Water: 1 cup

Milk: ½ cup (whole milk preferred for richness)

Fresh Ginger: 1-inch piece, washed and crushed or finely grated

Tea Powder/Leaves: 1 to 1.5 teaspoons (strong Assam or CTC blend)

Sugar: 1 to 2 teaspoons (adjust to your preference)

Step-by-Step Preparation
  1. Boil the Aromatics: Pour 1 cup of water into a small tea saucepan. Add the crushed fresh ginger immediately. Bring the water to a rolling boil on medium heat for 2 to 3 minutes, allowing the water to absorb the intense, spicy essence of the ginger.
  2. Infuse the Tea: Add your preferred tea powder and sugar to the boiling water. Let the mixture simmer together for another 2 minutes until the liquid turns a deep, dark amber hue.
  3. Introduce the Milk: Pour in the ½ cup of milk. Keep a close watch on the saucepan as the tea heats through. Bring the blend to a full, frothy boil, letting it rise gently before lowering the flame. Simmer for 1 final minute to develop a rich texture.
  4. Strain and Serve: Turn off the heat. Pour the hot tea through a fine mesh strainer directly into your favourite clay kulhad or ceramic mug.

Enjoy your aromatic ginger tea piping hot alongside crisp biscuits or savoury snacks for a perfect morning or evening interlude.
